Commissioning The Future is the new European training initiative for commissioning editors and funders, developed by Crossover (UK) in partnership with Documentary Campus (Germany) and Sheffield Doc/Fest (UK).
We strongly believe that it is vital to train the decision-makers in order for the convergent marketplace to really thrive. Therefore we have developed this new European training course offering three five-day long creative and commercial innovation labs, focused on commissioning for the emerging convergent digital media ecology.

Crossover Labs and Sheffield Doc/Fest invite creative businesses and freelancers working in digital media across West Wales and the Valleys to apply for a 2 day bespoke conference and unique mentoring opportunity
We are inviting applications from creative professionals from diverse disciplines, including film and TV production, animation, games, theatre, web design and new media, willing to share an understanding of a rapidly-changing mediascape.
Convergence Catalyst will train digital media professionals in creating long term sustainable careers in the Creative Media Industries, able to create their own opportunities and engage directly with consumers, rather than waiting for traditional commissions, and so reaping longer-term and larger profits -

As from today, Crossover Lab Play is open to applications from Flemish and Danish professionals interested in games and innovation.
From Sunday evening 19 until Friday the 24th of June 2011, the participants will gather in the luxurious and D-hotel in Kortrijk, Belgium, to discover the creative and commercial challenges of cross-media content and services. This will be done by sharing knowledge and experience, brainstorm sessions, guidance, project development and pitching. This Crossover Lab Play is managed by a team of mentors consisting of international experts, such as the famous Mark Atkin (Crossover Lab UK), Jakob HØgel (New Danish Screens of the Danish Film Institute) and Christel De Maeyer (The Studios/HOWest) ...

Commissioning for Convergence
The 2011 Summit kicks off Crossover Interactive at Sheffield Doc/Fest.
This year's focus, in true Crossover fashion, is to catalyse the marketplace for convergence. Crossover is proud to be running not one but two MEDIA Europe programmes this year and the Summit is going to be the only time that 100 or so participants will be under one roof; what with commissioners and fund managers from across Europe and producers from Australia we know that there will be some really interesting opportunities to cross over...
There will be a keynote on convergence, a panel of producing and commissioning for convergence, break-outs on key topics affecting the industry and more besides.

Lithuania Digital Conference: CrossMedia ZEN
In partnership with The International Cultural Programme Centre and the MEDIA desk Lithuania, Crossover is facilitating an annual cross media platform where the best cross media projects, practice, problems and theories would be revealed, shared and discussed. To gather best cross media practitioners and theorist in order to pass further their knowledge and experience and to elaborate new concepts, new ideas, new techniques and new projects together.

CROSSOVER AUSTRALIA/EUROPE LAB - OZEUXO
OzEuXo will bring together 24 documentary / factual film, games and digital media producers (12 from Europe and 12 from Australia), in two reciprocal cross-platform creative and commercial development Labs. Participants will benefit from intensive professional networking and privileged access to content markets, commissioners and buyers, in Australia and Europe.

Are you interested in developing cross-platform projects for Channel 4?
Channel 4 is currently the most innovative broadcaster in the UK experimenting with online and cross-platform media. They're now looking to broaden the base of producers capable of pitching credible projects to both television and online commissioners.

Crossover: Collections and Archives
The Wellcome Trust and Crossover Labs are delighted to invite curators, archivists, archive rights holders and producers with experience in film or television, social media, web design, games, mobile and location based services to participate in an intensive 5 day creative lab with a specific focus on developing innovative digital projects based on archives or museum and gallery collections.

Following the success of last year's inaugural Crossover Summit, Doc/Fest is hosting the event again in collaboration with Crossover Labs.
Sponsored by Northern Net and Screen Yorkshire, the 2010 Summit features keynotes and case studies from world class speakers from the UK and abroad as well as in-depth 'round table' discussions on specific topics. Highlights include a focus on the challenges of international co-production, the financing and developing of crossmedia projects, a masterclass in raising funds for social enterprises and using digital technologies for social good or public service.

For the first time in 2009/2010 Crossover will run a new “Business Lab” programme in Northern England aimed at people who have done a Crossover Creative lab and/or creative SMEs involved in tv, film, games, web and other digital production.

The fourth Crossover Lab in Australia will be for indigenous film-makers and will be held in New South Wales in February 2010.

Between the 24th and 28th January 2010 twenty talented and experienced audio-visual professionals will meet at a beautiful, all expenses paid retreat on the Swedish West Coast to explore the creative and commercial challenges of developing new content and services for digital delivery in a 360-commissioning world.

Crossover's third lab in Canada in 2009 was second collaboration with the Canadian Film Centre on a "Multiplatform Matchmaking Program" held at Niagara on the Lake on the shores of Lake Ontario.

According to a recent House of Lords report: “Society’s relationship with science is in a critical phase... There is a widespread belief that the UK’s post-war love affair with science has been replaced by an emerging anti-science mood which both fears the rapid development of science and is losing faith in the ability of science to solve society’s problems.”
Crossover Science will explore the potential of digital media to make compelling experiences focused on the stories, discoveries, challenges and moral dilemmas emerging from science and scientific research in the 21st Century.
